The City of Rockingham honour local servicemen with memorial timber park seats and a Steel Tree Guard from Exteria Street and Park Outfitters.
The City of Rockingham specified Exteria Memorial Seats to create an area for contemplation at the Waterfront Village located in Flinders Lane. Hardwood timber slat material was selected for its warm natural characteristics, creating an inviting area for people to sit and reflect. Local Rockingham born servicemen who answered the call to serve Australia 100 years ago, have now been honoured and will forever be remembered with commemoration plaques fitted to the seats. These plaques are integrated across the seven Kingsgrove Timber Park Seats placed side by side facing the central memorial. A seedling from the original lone pine at Gallipoli is also an important feature of the memorial, and is protected by an Exteria custom steel Tree Guard.
The City of Rockingham provided Exteria with visual references to assist in the development of a steel Tree Guard product design. With Exteria’s detailed drawings and effective fabrication processes, a custom steel tree guard design was developed to protect the treasured lone pine seedling and compliment the park environment. The City of Rockingham, collaborated with Exteria’s team; selecting the Kingsgrove Timber Seat and location of the memorial plaques which were recessed into the timber slats.
